IPL 2023 Auction Prospects
Option 1: Mumbai Indians (Budget: ₹20.55 crores)
The Mumbai Indians will need an all-rounder after the retirement of Kieron Pollard. Curran can play the floater and pinch-hitter when needed, something which Rohit Sharma might want from him for a quick and strong start in the powerplay. Curran will be budget-heavy, but will certainly enhance the bowling quality.
Option 2: Chennai Super Kings (Budget: ₹20.45 crores)
Much chances are with Chennai Super Kings because unlike other teams, their first XI is stable and ready to perform. CSK just need an all-rounder with pace-attack.
Curran has played for CSK before, and that he and CSK will be comfortable playing together.
In IPL 2021, Curran took nine wickets and had a batting strike rate of 193.10, 13 wickets, and 186. He missed IPL 2022 because of injury and it was really a struggle finding his replacement then.
It would not be surprising to see Curran at the slow and turning Chepauk pitch, soothing to his bowling style.
Option 3: SunRisers Hyderabad (Budget: ₹42.25 crores)
SunRise Hyderabad are more likely to sign Curran, and hence would most expensive player for them in the auction. Curran would help improve the death-over economy rate of 11.48, which was the worst in the last season. Adding Curran to the line-up will lead to team balance and to get rid of the disappointing past performances.
